Cyber Essentials aims to help organisations implement basic levels of protection against cyber-attacks, demonstrating to their customers that they take cyber security seriously.
The five basic controls within Cyber Essentials were chosen because when properly implemented, they help protect against unskilled internet-based attackers using commodity capabilities – which are freely available on the internet. The five security controls are:
Boundary firewalls and internet gateways
Secure configuration
Access control
Malware protection
Patch management
Organisations undertaking Cyber Essentials are encouraged to recertify at least once a year and where appropriate, progress their security. Since 1 October 2014, Cyber Essentials has become a minimum requirement for bidding for some government contracts. Details can be seen here. You can see more details about the Cyber Essentials and download the requirements from the GOV.UK website

IASME Cyber Assurance is a government-funded project that has developed a cyber security standard that is affordable and achievable. The standard allows small and medium enterprises in a supply chain to demonstrate their level of cyber security for a realistic cost.
IASME Cyber Assurance is the global certification for cyber security experts that meets the GDPR requirements. Our certified experts can provide assurance to organisations that they are GDPR compliant.
Our Level 1 Verified Assessment is the first step in meeting the GDPR requirements and is available to anyone who holds a valid Cyber Essentials certificate. Our Level 2 Audited program is available to organisations that meet our rigorous requirements and require assurance that their cyber security is up to par.
IASME Cyber Assurance is risk-based and covers important security areas like incident response, asset management, people management, physical controls, and GDPR compliance. Level 1 certification is the first stage of IASME Cyber Assurance certification.
IASME Cyber Assurance Level 2 requires an independent audit of your processes, procedures, and controls by one of our consultants. Level 1 certification is a prerequisite for Level 2 audit. Contact us today to get a quote.
